I am trying to get back to this car and have discovered that I have a power steering leak. I cleaned the area well and ran the car to find it. The first picture is the cleaned area and the second is the leak.

I'm thinking that the valve body on the top of the box has faulty O-rings in it. If you agree, is there anything special, about removing that valve? I just don't want any springs to come flying out at me and not knowing where they go. I look in the manual but it does not show anything like springs. Also do you have to line anything up to re-install.

Thanks for the input.

if its the top piece where the ps hose hooks to. no no springs will fly out, you'll find two small o rings and one large on under there. Btw mine leaks like a seive from there, It leaked from day one bought it from firm feel and Dennis is sending new o rings

The valve will slide forward or backwards that's how you adjust the steering wheel movement when you start the car.It should be centered and the steering wheel will not move by itself when starting the car.

So, it's best to put the wheel in the straight forward position and remove the valve to change the o-rings? Should it be marked before removal?

Thanks for the education
Ron

On the related note of power steering leakage, I've got a power steering pump and close ratio box from firm feel, the pump is leaking after less than a hundred miles on the Odometer since installation. I cleaned the front face and hoses of the pump, and let her sit for a few hours, the leak was bad enough that I was down to three quarters of the pumps required amount. I checked the top plug and she's tight, the hoses are also clean but the body was soaked. near the pulley and the bearings was clean it looked like it was coming from the lower edge of the housing. Any suggestions? Can it be fixed? it's in a 69 Plymouth roadrunner with a 383, the pump I think is a federal style.
