I need to replace my hose. Is this hose called the return hose?

Were the orig's date coded back in 68? What size are these and what are the correct clamps to use?

Also I'm assuming I have a Saginaw as the filler cap has an "S" on it.

Thanks Guys! So what does the "S" stand for on the cap? Seeing my car was built Jan 22,68 I'm guessing I need a non-date coded hose.

The date coded hose that we produce is May 68, October 68, January 69, May 69, October 69, June 70, January 71, April 71, June 1 and January 72. We do not have samples of anything earlier, but if someone has a documented earlier sample, I would love to see pictures so as to possibly add it to the product offering. The spring clamps are readily available in the correct dull red shade.

Its 3/8 hose. Not a fan of the old style clamps. They leaked for me. I installed modern hose clamp and new hose. Kept the original ones.

Thanks everyone! Is it safe to assume all return hoses are the same diameter? No one seems to list the diameters on their websites.

Are you guys sure those spring clamps are right for 68? The front clamp at the pump is what I think is the correct clamp. My 68 GTX had them and it still had the original line on it, both were backed up with worm clamps. Here's a picture that was supposed to be a survivor. I can't image anyone changing a spring clamp to a Corbin clamp. Most would switch to a worm gear type I would think.

The 67 I'm doing now had worm clamps but when I took the car apart one of those clamps was laying in the muck on top of the frame rail on that side of the car.

Wasn't sure if there was a date when they switched from Corbin to spring clamps.

Will be interesting to see what we find out as I'm almost positive this is the orig. hose & clamp.

Thats Franks old ride.....Beautiful car....I have scoured that ride years ago....

My familiarity is based on the 69 and above survivors I had and they were the red clamps......

I can't refute what is on that car......so it could have either been a plant thing in 68 or they were left over from 67 and used until gone...I do not think it would be a pump difference thing.

If that is the case you cannot go wrong either way but not for 69 and up....

Thanks for sharing that info....

Thx! For reference, all the cars I looked at were that same pump as Rebel has. I haven't seen any others to know if they were different.

Maybe the saginaw used the different clamps....my rides all had the saginaw.....

Thats a possibility it is a FM thing...good info

I'll be replacing my hose this weekend. I'm assuming all I need to do is remove the old hose & just replace, correct? No bleeding or anything?

Correct, just make sure your topped off when it's all back together.

For a 68 car I do not think it is a Federal, but rather the similar TRW. A view of the back or the stamping on the front would determine that.
