I have a power steering pump starting to squeal on my 67 Coronet 383. When talking to the local shops and looking online, the pump doesn't look, mount or have the fittings in the same place. Maybe somewhere down the line it was replaced with another model or year. No one around me rebuilds them or has any ideas where to go. Any help in the matter would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Chrysler/Federal pump, you should be able to send it out for a rebuild, I think Cardone has a service.

Sure belt wasn't just loose?

From what I have learned, there were three different pumps used on our cars. I don't know for sure about a 1967 383, but on the 68-69 440's there were Saginaw, Thompson (TRW) and Federal. Yours looks like a Thompson or Federal. Saginaws had a different shaped filler neck. Pic attached shows how to tell the difference between Thompsons and Federals

Those take a wide belt so make sure you have correct one.

Thanks for the information. I'll look into the rebuild. The belt is tightened but when giving it good throttle it makes the noise.

I had mine rebuilt by Steer and Gear.

You can forget Cardone, there are none in captivity. I searched the world over - including directly to Cardone, but those pumps could not be had. Rebuild it at Steer & Gear.

Can’t go wrong with those guys they really know what they’re doing.
