Hey what pumps are you guys using on early Bs?
I've been sorting out parts for the pulleys and noticed differences with the pumps.
I have the original 64 sb trw pump that has a larger return outlet compared to the '70 federal pump. So either I have to find an early pump or can I change the piece on the steering gear box?

Also, looks like I'll have to find a two groove crank pulley and alternator brackets as the 4 groove won't work.

There's actually three different sizes on the trw pumps, one for SB, two for BB. Only way I know to tell the dif, is how the end of the pulley shaft looks. Easy to research, to find out which ones you have, since you need to know before ordering an overhaul kit.
I've got the bigger of the two, for BB, on my 69 motor. Only problem so far, is the blasted brackets (tried three) won't square up, with the crank pulley.

Real good section in the service manual, for going through 'em, and showing the differences.

Also going to go for an experience, one of the other members had...when he first fired up, had his arm 'through' the steering wheel, reaching for the key. Guess what happened!
Will leave OFF my steering pump fan belt for break-in, and deal with steering after.

Good point on the steering wheel Miller.

Looks like the early pumps had smaller diameter pulleys than the late 60s-70's pumps from all the pictures I've seen. I'm hoping that the pump pulley I have will line up with the crank pulley when I locate one. My main concern is how to connect the return outlets if they are two different sizes. Must be some way to add a reducer fitting somehow? pita!

Stick a smaller hose on the the smaller nipple, yeah, said nipple, and the bigger hose should fit over it and hose clamp it. Done!
