My power steering seems to have no power assist at very low rpms like backing in or out of a parking space but performs perfectly any other time. The pump came off of a motor home and is a Saginaw. Any idea of what would cause this?

Decreasing pulley diameter will increase pump speed.

Low pump pressure. Pump is probably going bad.
Thanks guys, I rebuilt the pump (new seals) so I know it's in really good condition inside but remember it did have a large diameter pulley so I'll see if I have another one to try.

I have rebuilt pumps and purchased rebuilt pumps before with mixed success. Low pressure at low RPM was the usual problem.
