I have a 68 charger with power windows....i thought it was a cool somewhat rare option at first but now its a total pain in the azz. Anyway, the windows (except the drivers side) all went up and down...I got a new window motor for the drivers side and installed it today.....now none of the windows work....I cleaned the post and 'thing' it plugs into....i put a tester on the wires...all are getting power and work according to the light.....after futher investigation....when I hit switch for the drivers side all the other switches get power ....I tired (on the drivers side) the old window motor and the new passenger side window motor and it will not turn either..I did notice the main brown wire that feeds the box (I think this is right) is loose in its connection but even if I wiggle it, it doesn't help...could it be the switch? any ideas?

I had the same thing happen to my 68' Coronets power windows. Turns out the switch was bad. Almost an act of god to find a working replacement..

Best of luck to ya

great that was what I was afraid of.....any other switches that will fit that you know of? you wouldnt happen to have the old switch and want to get rid of it?

I'm thinking I might still have it mpdlawdog...I'll check in the ol' box of dusty Coronet left overs when I get home.

As far as working alternatives. I was told the same year C-Body switches would work, but look a bit different. That's just heresay though. Never researched and tried it out on my own.......just sent Stephen's Performance my legs and first born for the correct one.

Still got the part amazingly. I think I took this part off in 98'. Hilarious!! Since then, moved 7 times, to 3 different parts of the country, married the divorced then married again, bought a couple different houses and in the end......I still have this old power window switch I took off my Coronet thirteen years ago.

Back when I pulled this part off, I had an idea that power windows were pretty rare in these cars. A couple years later I had Galen Govier document my car and it turned out to be 1 of 58 68' Coronet 500 Convertible's to come with power windows. Probably why I chucked it in a box for safe keeping.

Definitely not show quality. Chrome is peppered pretty good. Looking at it now, it looks like the inner electrical workings could be removed from the cast metal housing and possibly rebuilt. The housing could be rechromed. The first two up/down switches (control for driver-passenger side windows) sag a little bit and have less spring left in them than the other two. I'm betting it could be took apart, contacts cleaned and springs replaced and it would probably work fine. I guess back then I didn't think that far in depth about it and just replaced it.

If you think this switch may have better luck than your old to get your windows up and running, let me know. You can have it..

Here is some pics of it......Same as yours?
