Has any body ever tryed to race with a 1970 pistol grip shifter (you know the rowboat ) ha ha .
Did you powershift how fast have you gone power shifting a pistol grip in a 1970 or older b-body?

Yes back in 1974 and I have the scars on my knuckles to prove it. Car went 11.97 with all Direct Connection aftermarket parts in it.

that is cool ! i think that i am going to try it , i modified my shifter mech to have stops so it won't over shift . i have a pretty hot street strip 493 with solid roller cam and i need to get it to the track this spring .
i really like the pistol grip for looks and don't want to change to auto for the track.

Not a 70 B body but a buddy of mine had a 69 Dart with the factory shifter and I got along with that very well. It wasn't exactly a short shifter either. I'd make that car sound like an automatic running through the gears!

They dont call those shifters knuckle busters for nothing. only problem is that the throws are too long.
