what does amachine shop charge to magnaflux abig block bore and hone if needed and recondition a forged crank for a1969 383 hp motor and to recondition the heads with mild up grades. Sarting father son project looking 4 some knowledge to look 4 amachine shop and what to expectthe ballpark cost

I think location has allot to do with pricing of machine work......
I believe I paid somewhere around 450 to have my 440 block hot tanked & bored .030", the steel crank polished, Forged pistons installed onto my H-Beam rods and the whole assy balanced.
I did the rest at home.....

Hot tank:$50
Prep:$72
Bore and Hone:$144-$288 ($20 more per bank w/torque plate)
Hone cylinders:$10-$15 per cylinder
Deck V block:$165
Jet wash:$25-$45
Jet wash polish crank:$45
Recondition Rods:$144
Performance 3 angle valve job:$352

I just had my 69 383 engine rebuilt by a guy in maquotita,ia.Total price was $3000.00.That was with a 0.30 overbore of the cylinders.

Your best bet is probably to ask a machine shop.

Grapers in Troy Grove Illinois. They quoted me around $1800 for my 440 minus the heads. I bought some reconditioned 906's from evilbay for a little over $500 plus shipping. Not sure if they had a torque plate for chrysler's, im gonna try to prolong my rebuild for 6 months or as long as i can. I kinda want to stroke it, thats my reasoning. They are recommended by allot of people here, goodluck.
