From an old post:

72 hardtop rallye
440 4bbl
785 auto
165 4speed

72 coupe rallye

440 4bbl
28 auto
11 4speed

*Old HS buddy of mine has a 4 spd car with Track Pack and Dana. Have not been able to break that down but certainly extremely rare! He still has the car today.

I believe when I looked it up a few years ago when I thought I found a 400 4 speed car it was like 300-400 4 speeds made and 1100-1200 autos made in the rallye package
This will brake down smaller in to the 318;340,400,440
318-400 being the most popular then the 440 and finally the 340
I want to say 20-25% 440 cars 10%340 cars but it's been years I don't remember where I got the info from ether hope this helps a bit it's a rare car but remember rate doesn't mean valuable sadly these chargers haven't caught on like there big brothers but that means we can have a cool bad *** ride for not alot of bank still. I love them to death there values are inching up though so grab them why you can . Got any mor pictures ? I'm a huge fan I have a 72 rallye 340 magnum Auto car that I'm converting into a 4 speed pro Turing style car big wheels 4 wheel disc brakes wilwoods of course ect. I threw numbers out the window I don't care I just want a bad *** mopar that I can drive every day .it's gold now I'm painting it like my old orange one then add black accents. Same wheels

I've never seen a 72 SE without a vinyl top and modified quarter windows.

Interesting.

I've been close on a couple 72 Rallye cars but just never worked out.

There's an oddball 400-2 barrel car on CL right now...in true (Petty) blue.

Car I mentioned above. He bought this 32-33 years ago. 440 Mag, 4 spd, Dana Track Pack car.

So what is the difference between the hardtop and coupe? There both 2 doors and they didn't make a post. Is it the rear (back seat) window? Just curious as I have a 72 charger and 2 73 chargers and they seem to have different rear windows.

I think I recognize that car. I think you sent me pictures a few years ago when I was asking questions about the 72 chargers. I bought one and it hasn't made it in my shop yet to be restored. I keep putting cars I want to do in front of it. I cant imagine one with out a vinyl roof. If you seen the mess maw mopar put on mine under that vinyl. Where they put that style of window in there is a mountain of mud around it. I took off the vinyl and it fell out in large chunks. This is my stash for up coming years lol. If I live that long.

Thanks for the clarification I will have to look. I have 1 72 and 2 73's and cant tell you what they are. I have never even looked. I bought the three cars 7 and 8 years ago and have never even looked them over. The one 73 is a U code car the other 2 are 400 cars. That is all I know for sure.
