I am finally getting close to being done with my interior and "restoration" project from the last 8 months. Below are some pictures, a few before and after and some just general shots. Pictures include before and after of dash and instrument panel/steering wheel...dyed door panels, dyed headliner, rust-proofed and sound-proofed trunk.

Geez, 26 views and no comments? Must look like absolute crap...

I might add this was all done with less than $100 in supplies vs the $1200 I was quoted to do just the door panels alone.

I know it's not a "professional" job, but I'm no professional and not trying to win any awards...budget all the way was key for me.

Door panels need to be completely re-done at some point but I need to save up some money to yank that slant 6 out....got the plan all set though :icon_thumleft:
 
Thank you...now I need to tackle finding the seat spacers....for some reason there were only 2 on each seat, with a stack of washers on the other side, must be the previous owner had a hard time finding them?

I'm going to ACE Hardware and Home Depot to see if I can find something that will work.
 
what seat spacers are you talking about. I've had the seat out in my 64 Belvedere and also took one out of a 63 Polara. both were bench seats and neither one had spacers.
 
I have buckets in the front, bench in the rear. The spacers are the cylindrical parts that sit on the floor of the car...the seat gets mounted on top of them and the bolt that attaches the seat goes directly through it.

You can see one of them on the floor in one of the pictures above (the one where you can see both of the driver's side doors).
 
are you sure you have the right seats and tracks for the car?
I may be wrong but I never saw a 4 door with buckets
 
Am I sure? No, not really...just going by what was in there when I bought it...after taking everything out of the interior I noticed a few things that didn't quite seem right. I may end up making my own out of some plumbing fittings, for 8 it will cost me about 5 bucks, instead of 30 from Classic. I called them today but nobody answered for some reason, I just want to know what size the spacers are that they sell.
 
I agree. My 64's seat tracks bolt directly to the floor with no spacers.


i think he needs the spacer because the center of the floor is higher than the out side edge when using bucket seats and original brackets they will lean toward the doors, you will need spacers on the out side tracks to level them out, i'm going through this one my 1963 dodge, i'm using fender shims as you can bolt the seats into place and take up the extra gap with the shims and you don't have to unblot the seats everytime..

wouldn't he need re-inforcement plates inboard by the tunnel for buckets??
 
Thanks for the compliments and suggestions guys, I really appreciate it. As for the washers, that's what was in there when I took the seats out...the spacers were closest to the doors on each side, and the washers were stacked at random heights on the inner portion of the seat rail. I suppose I could just keep it the way it was, but thought there had to be a better (more realistic) way.

Hard work definitely pays off, and when it saves money, I'm all for it. Getting ready to start it soon, just got done replacing all the plugs and wires...amazing how bad of shape and incorrectly gapped these plugs were.
 
I'm just going to go to the hardware store and get some high strength nylon washers to replace the metal spacers and metal washers being used currently. I know they make some that are pretty thick so I can just stack 2 if I need to. Nylon is a bit more light weight and more forgiving too....also doesn't corrode. Have Grade 8 replacement bolts to bolt the seats down already.
