Just bolting the accessories on a motor before dropping the body down over it and noticed that my crank pulley is in towards the block about 1/16" compared to the water pump pulley. What do you guys think is within tolerance? Should I try to shim out the crank pulley? Water pump and housing are PRW and I can't remember offhand what brand the harmonic balancer is, though it is SFI certified.

I would think that was within tolerance.

I would think that was within tolerance.
I went on Bouchlines website and they state that their reproduction pulleys can be .020 - .060 out of round and that won't affect belt wear or throwing belts. 1/16" is about .060, so I am at the high side. Just doesn't look right to me as all my other motors are lined up dead nuts.

Have you smacked the clutch in and out yet?
This is the new motor for my Bee and won't be on the road till next spring because of salt on the roads. Why would driving the car change the pulley alignment?

Just thinking shoving the clutch in would force the crank forward on any end play there is on the thrust bearing. Maybe all you need to get it closer..

I agree... This is a fresh motor, not the one going to scrap.... The spec is something like .004-.010
I don't remember the exact spec but yeah, that's more like it....
