I have a P4452783 "purple" camshaft only (no lifters) that was only used for a few hours. Bought around 1990, I installed this in a 383 and was not happy with the result. Ended up using a stock cam. This has been stored with lube on the lobes and sealed in plastic. Cleaning out the shelfs now.
This still has the purple color on the casting surface. This was made before the part number added an "AE" at the end. See part number tag. It has "staining" on some of the lobes. The worst is shown. None of the spots are pits, but rather discoloration. I can provide more pics if needed.
