What is an average amount of hours a professional shop should charge to replace a full quarter panel on a Roadrunner.

Just weld it in, no paint or bodywork.... I'd guess 15-20 hrs

Guys who actually work in a body shop...how close am I?

These things tend to morph, Rarely ever does it just end up the exterior qt skin is all that's replaced.
Up the sail panel, full qt, with a good wheel tub to work with & good trunk extensions ect
door and fender already gapped and perfect as possible , back glass removed, qt window removed, deck lid fitted & correct to the dutch and other qt. So westi that's a loaded question with no good estimate unless the cars in front of me. Each one is different.
Most decent bodymen will just tell you its {time and parts}.

Well, fully assembled car to repair and reassemble.
I would guess 10 days
1) pull glass and mouldings taillights
2) support car & start drilling spot welds
3)find more rust need to drill more spot welds
4)new 1/4panel trunk extension - 1/2 trunk pan- outer wheelhouse,Dutchman,trunk gutter upper
5) more spot welds to drill
6)start reinstalling parts
7)still test fitting
8)still test fitting
9)start welding
10)finish welding
11)give you back car cause you pissed it took 10 days

You need to put glass and taillights back I. And all mouldings back on

Seems like a reasonable estimate

Good luck on finding a guy to reall tell you the truth.
It’s really an “unknown position” until you dig into it.

Be prepared for worse case seniero.

I know that there are many things to factor in, so it's hard to give an accurate estimate. The reason I am asking is that I am looking at a Roadrunner, but the rear wheel wells have been radiused. That car seems to be in decent shape and comes with a set of 1/4 panels, not sure how long I could drive it with those round wheel wells lol....it's very '80's

If the wheel houses and trunk extension and corner of the rear window are in Very good shape you may be able to just replace the 1/4 panel from top edge down and not need to pull glass and get into all the work behind the 1/4 panel.

I would still be prepared for the worse situation and hopefully it’s not that.

I understand better now what your looking at, With the previous chop job & without pics your prob needing inner tubs also. All these new after market parts do not fit correct and take some work just to get them on the car. There are to many what ifs to give a guess on hrs. If you end up going for the qts you just have to find a shop with a good rep and have them give you a estimate after seeing the car.

every one of these cars is a can of worms just waiting to explode........ I gave up estimating in hours; I estimate in days, then triple it lol

that being said, you could probably boogie a quarter on there with a drop off and some outer wheelhouse work 3-4 days...... I'd notch around the rear window; once you pull that, your most likely into a new Dutchman and it grows from there. I just did a Dutchman, 1/4 skins, drops, trunk pan, and a rear cross member; 150 honest hours working efficiently

just curious, im doing same quarter skin, did you flange and overlap or Butt weld? I butt welded mine, the metal seemed thick enough to be strong enough after grinding the welds down.

yup, buttweld........ I leave a small gap 1/16 - 1/8". the weld fills it in nicely

I agree with the 150 hrs maybe more. I'm OCD when it comes to lining things up. One big help was keeping old pieces that were cut off to compare to AMD metal.
