quarter skins or full quarter panels

hi, i have a 1970 roadrunner convertible. i am starting to get parts together to repair issues. what would be best to repair my original rusted lower quarter panels? skins or full quartes for hard top. thank you
 
You can also get lower quarter patch panels if the rust isn't up too far.
 
Somewhat depends on what you want the end result to be. If you do skins there will be a visible seam inside the trunk. If you can get away with lower quarter patch panels you "might" not see it if it is low.

How good are you with body work?
If you want really good metal work, look at Chris Birdsong on YouTube and the people from AMD Installations.

If there's no rust in the wheel well or forward part of the quarter, just scab in lower quarter patch panels. Id make damn sure theres no crust in the wells, & if so, I'd do full quarters & plan on outer wheelhouses to make it easier. Hard to make that decision for you cuz I like spending other poeples money & time...
Can we get some pics of the corosion/damage, and a rough idea of what you want the car to be in the end?

What she said. The reproduction metal is often in need of modifications. The scallops on the doors of second gen Chargers, the door gaps on Dusters/Demon/Dart Sport quarters, and I'm sure of other examples out there, are sometimes slightly off. Straighten any solid, unrusted metal with dents, and just replace the rust.
 
New quarters will never fit as good as original. Buy quality skins and trim them to fit leaving ALL the factory original seams in place at the trunk, door jams and tail panel. Its a lot of tack welds but the end result is worth the effort.

This.

Keep as much original sheet metal and body lines as you can. No reason to replace half the car when a few inches of lower 1/4's will do.

All "solid" replies here, pun intended. Simple. Keep as much OEM as possible.
 
Lower patch panels are being discontinued, so if you know someone with them you should grab them up. I had to purchase the entire skins to get the lower patch panels just week s ago. I agree keep as much of the original material as possible.

thanks for all the replies. i will have car rust repaired . i will be looking for a very nice driver type resto. wheel well has rust and bondo. i bought car in 82 and quarters were already rusted on bottoms. car was in new york as a daily driver untill i bought it in 82. i think skins would probably work.thanks again
