Installing the roof rail moldings and the quarter window exterior trim. Because I took this car apart nearly 15 years ago, I do not remember how the quarter window trim is fastened to the body. It looks like to me the cat whisker for the exterior part of the window may fasten the trim solid to the body. Pictures attached......anyone with knowledge please let me know.

Thank you

Carl

I took pictures.
I've got the new stuff at home.
The thick fuzzy is in two pieces, I'm sure.
I think that chrome is attached with flush screws. Mine were toast.
I'm going back with stainless. I should be able to find something.
Hope this helps.

Here's another shot of the outer trim parts for you...

Flush screws hold it to the sill and then your workers go through it

thanks Guys.....I will look for the flush screws and where they mount.

Not sure why but if you notice in the picture I sent initially, the fastening holes are 2 x the size they should be. All the fastening holes are like this in the trim on the drivers side. Looks like the detent broke out which made the hole larger. Working on a fix to make sure the piece stays in place.

There have been a few more separate post on this same trim issue and the methods to attach the SS trim. Because a few of my screw holes were to large to restore with screws I had to drill and rivet followed by making my own screw brackets/nuts out of aluminum and holding into place with a long rod to get behind the window and into the channel. I held the small piece into place with tape on the rod and then pulled the rod and tape off. I followed with installing the window cat whiskers. The outside piece has clips and with a lot of pressure it snapped into place perfectly. The inside was another story. Factory part was somehow metal stapled to the trim part, so after removing I had to come up with a way to install and not damage the fuzzies on the cat whiskers. I used a hole punch designed for installing drop ceilings. The punch is for metal parts, and leaves a clean hole for a 1/8 Rivet. Fit is nice and the rivet is not seen.

More trim questions....the trim that mounts on the door outside of the window has 6 clips per piece and snaps into the holes in the door. I need a few clips. Pictures attached. I have looked for aftermarket and do not find anything. Anybody have a few of these or know where to purchase?

You asked about mounting the quarter exterior trim. The 1st thing you needed was the J clips that go on the quarter panel lip for mounting the trim. You should have at least 3 on each side. Here is what they look like. I sold all of my extras.

Sixpactogo.....I made my own out of aluminum.....and made them long enough that they do not turn inside the lip.

What I am looking for now is the clips that hold the outer trim on the door. Not sure if these are available either....as I have not found them.
