Question about replacement body parts

My GTX is about to go into the shop to have the roof swapped in a couple weeks. Along with the roof swap some other parts are being replaced. The upper radiator core support is going to be swapped because of rust and other damage. What do I do about the body numbers that are stamped on the old part? What is the acceptable method for documenting this?

take a pic of the #'s on the core sup before it is removed from the car,then cut out the #'s & weld the piece in place on the new core sup. just take lots of pictures of the swap so you can tell what was done. if you dont have the fender tag or build sheet it really wont matter.
