I am ordering NOS emblems for my 1969 Coronet R/T as mine are pitted and need repaired. I found a source for the grille T/T emblem, but no luck as of yet for the R/T emblem and the D-O-D-G-E on the decklid. NOS supplier is adament that the 1969 R/T had a pin type emblem after the rear wheel well right before the stipe. I contested that the 67-68 had the emblem and in 1969 they went to the buble bee stripe with the R/T decal in the center of the stripe. Am I Correct?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I haven't been able to find the deck lid R/T emblem or the DODGE letters either. I don't think they are reproduced by anyone. Please let me know if you find them somewhere. I could use a set for my "twin" R/T as well. :headbang:

As for the R/T emblem on rear quarter, I am pretty sure that was only for "stripe delete" cars in '69. If you have a tail stripe, you do NOT use the metal R/T emblem on the rear quarter.

Agree to both. Please let me know if you find the letters or correct emblem.

Yes, rear quarter emblem was for stripe delete cars. Here's a picture of my car from a previous owner clearly showing the emblems on a stripe delete car.

Thanks, I knew I was correct and the NOS supplier was wrong. I have a reproduction deck lid R/T emblem shipping today from Jacks Auto Parts. Jacks is a great place for reproduction pieces. I ordered them almost a year ago and he finally got them in this week. I am looking for NOS deck lid R/T emblem and the D-O-D-G-E emblems.

Would anyone know if the 1969 Charger R/T and the 1969 Coronet R/T have the same decklid emblem dimensions? Does the Charger even have a R/T decklid emblem?
Thanks again,
Mark

Mark,

Don't know if you have all the part numbers or not, so I looked up part numbers for rear "R/T" emblems for '69 Coronet and Charger.

Coronet R/T emblem is 2901817, and of course as you know is on the deck lid.
Charger R/T emblem is 2902389, and is located on the rear finish panel in the middle between the tail lights, NOT on the deck lid like Coronet's. Since the part number is different, I have to believe the two emblems are NOT dimensionally the same.

Also FYI, Coronet deck lid DODGE letters p/n's are as follows.

"D" 2784488
"O" 2784489
"G" 2784490
"E" 2784491

Attaching clips for all are 6000050

Of course these are all 40+ year old part numbers, so some or all could be superceded, and many or all could be unavailable today. Good luck with the search.

Tom

The NOS supplier has a Charger R/T emblem and he confirmed that it is not identical to the Coronet R/T emblem. I have a reproduction one to replace my original until I find a shop that restores it.

If we could find a good used set, you can make a mold and cast them. I watched them do a set of SS moldings on TV one time.

I think if you google how to make them you will find ways. I looked a long time about making 70 R/T grills then someone started making them, I read the were not good but I dont know that for sure.

If you have an art school near you talk to them about making clay moldings for you and then see about doing the casting.

Keep us posted.

Jimmy @JACK'S AUTO PARTS had the D O D G E letters made up a couple of years ago off of originals my buddy had.
Did you ask if he still sells them??
I'll see him tomorrow and ask while I'm there.

Ron

I have them on order from Jacks for the last eight months. He is a very funny guy and told me the one guy that does them is very slow. I will be sending my originals off once I receive the reproductions. I just received the deck lid R/T emblem from Jacks, but I have not compared it to my original yet. I will post a picture of the NOS grille emblem with Jacks reproduction later today after work.

Okay, I looked at the NOS and Jacks grille emblem and I think I got screwed by the NOS supplier. They look identical and have the same numbers printed on the back. 2898 886 then 31025 below that number on the 'T'. Would a reproduction have the pentastar logo on it and would it look identical to the original?

I was with Jimmy today, as you stated he had the R/T made from a good original so get them while you can!!

Also he should have the D O D G E letters back in stock in about a week or so.
Anyone needing them don't hesitate or you'll lose out!

Yes the guy that makes them wasn't as fired up about the emblems as we are so I guess he didn't rush...

Ron

His emblem is a great reproduction. I was wondering if the original would look like the photo I posted (back of it). I have not taken my original off my car and I had a concrete driveway installed on Monday so I can not pull my car out to check until later this week.

DODGE R/T "emblems"

I have a 69 R/T as well some of the same problems. Are you still active in this forum?
Jacks, I have called him for the past ?????? I dont know 6 months and every time he gives
me another excuse. He first told me he would have the "DODGE" letters and "R/T" emblem
for the deck lid in TWO WEEKS. He has told me everything from the paint wouldn't dry to
he would call me. Been at least 6 months if not longer.

Is he really legit?

One final question. Was the R/T emblem stock on the rear panel instead of the stripe?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Jimmy at JACK'S is as legit as they come. He has become a friend as the years have past.
He's telling you straight, if the supplier screws him he can only tell you to wait or find it elsewhere.
I have an original rechromed trunk R/T forsale on this site for months. All the painting would have to be done to it. although it's an original piece some detail was lost in the chrome process. ( plated by Paul's Chroming)
I also have 3 letters that are original and Paul's rechromed. Again the paint work would still have to be done.
I ended up putting the reproduction letters and trunk emblem from Jack's on my own car because they are perfect ( they were molded off my friend's original pieces). Ron

I have been calling him about once a month for the last year and the manufacturer keeps delaying the process. His guy does make great reproductions athough it may take awhile to get one. I have the R/T stripe n my quarter with the R/T little badge on the deck lid.
