was the blackout on the radiator support paint or more like undercoating?

On my 66 it appeared to be simply a flat black paint. Perhaps a special black, but flat is what I would call it.

I forgot to flat black lower cross piece of radiator support, still hear about it. Seems every time I'm in a position to spray I forget.

Just black paint, and don't worry about making it look pretty because it wasn't from the factory.

Please paint it black. I see so many GREAT looking cars with paint color poking through the grill....

So glad you're going to black it out. You have such a great looking car, but the photos from the front (showing orange through the grill) have always been a little bit of a turn off.

Yes, its a flat black paint, no undercoating

I know that feeling. I may just have some black cardboard to slide in there when taking photos :)

I did a orange Duster and didn't black it out. Drove me nuts just to look at it,, and everybody told me about it too. Black for me now.

Just something i would like to know.
It's only the outer side of the radiator support was blacked out?
So engine bay, and engine bay side of the radiator support supposed to be same as the car exterior color right?
Reason for asking is, my complete engine bay is black and i want to paint it same as the exterior color but better do it the right way straight away.

Soo.... what paint are y'all using for the black out? Rattle can stuff, or actual auto paint?

Krylon satin rattle can. Don't forget to skuff the shiny stuff first.
Wietse,The engine bay should be body color up to1974. 1975 the inner fenders changed on B body's. Black out is what shows behind the grille,or the front of the rad support.
