Im very interested in what everyones doing with their tunes? Ive seen the secret audio stuff but i'd rather have a modern unit, anybody have any cool pictures of their set ups?

Panasonic

Dash Lights 008.jpg...here is my Panasonic...the previous owner had cut out the dash so I just did a quick measurement and found that the Panasonic fit was right on...very nice indeed...Marla

My wife just ordered a USA-630 from Classic Car Stereo for my '72 SSP. There is a thread about these and the Retrosound system at Roadrunnersnest.com

I have secret audio units in the road runner and the belvy....contemplating one for the javelin too.....id like an in-dash but i really dont wanna cut up anything. That looks great marla!

are they really that good? people seem to love them, i want an in dash but if they are that good i might have to go for it

yeah....i love em. pretty easy to install....sounds great, good and loud and clear. you can put almost anything into them like ipod...or a flashdrive with tunes from your computer...SIRIS radio...cd changer....( thats extra). IF YOU MOUNT IT IN THE TRUNK LIKE MINE ARE, YOULL NEED A RADIO ANTENNA EXTENSION EASILY OBTAINED ON ebagg FOR 10 BUXX NORMALLY....frikkin caps lock....anyway....theyre nice units and ya dont have to do any surgery to the dash . you can plug a sub woofer in it if ya wanna...extremely user friendly. you have 100w per side with 2 speakers,,,or 50 w per speaker with 4 speakers....

bought both of mine for $279.00 each. im pretty sure im gonna jamm one in the Javelin too. !

They're only cars, just cut the dash and put it where it belongs. They repo most of the dash plastic stuff if you decide to put that stoneage original back in.

yeah exactly its just a 318 pw charger nothing too crazy. not sure what im gunna do yet. im thinking an alpine unit

It's pretty east to find bezels that have already been cut.

No one wants them and they are usually cheap.

Buy one of those, swap it out, and keep your uncut one in the trunk, or a shadow box, etc...

I mount mine on the underside of the dash. Most Audio stores sell a plastic enclosed mount that the radio will slide into from the front and then can be mounted on the underside/bottom of the dash with 4 screws...Cost...$20 bucks. I go with a detachable face radio so when pulled, it's hard to even notice as well as deters someone from stealing it.

My Coronet Ragtop (in first pic below) is an older Kenwood with two Infinity 6" X 9"s in boxes sitting on the rear floor pans (vert obviously has no rear package tray). That other doo-dad near that is a FM Transmitter for my Ipod that plugs into the cigarette lighter and will broadcast the Ipod off the FM station I choose.

My '69 Roadrunner, I bought a center speaker template (link below) that I mounted two Polk Audio 110Watt 3" speakers in. Kick Panels have two Kenwood Excelon 4" 160 Watt speakers, back package tray is two Polk Audio 3-way 6" X 9" 200 Watt speakers..Not installed yet, but in the trunk will be a 200Watt Bazooka 10" Bass Canon sitting next to a 1200 Watt Kenwood Excelon Amp. Car cabin is fully installed with sound deadener/acoustic material. Not going for a mega thumpity thump, but a nice crisp full sound. It will still blow my socks off if I want, but most time will be spent just enjoying the sound coming out from under the hood.

that looks great prop, gotta look into that mount, seems like a very reasonable way to do this

probably gunna end up cutting into my new kicks to do the speakers as well

I kept my AM 8-Track, I found an adaptor that just slides in like a tape cartrige and turns it into fm. I record on blank 8 tracks to listen to whatever. Works for me.

Thanks

Be careful what size speakers you buy. With the 4", the magnet size on the back was just small enough to slide into the recess of the hinge pillar for the lower hinge bolt access. The kick panel set in the car right now is an aftermarket set. I kept an OEM set in case the speakers in the kicks started to bother me cosmetically and i'd still have a set of non-cut OEM panels.

Good luck.

have radio delete always ran open headers and no system love listening to the headers :headbang:
