So when I start my car up there's a rattling going on in the engine compartment. It doesn't sound like its coming from inside the engine. The oil pan is dented in he center where the pickup tube goes, but not anywhere else. It kinda sounds like it's coming from the torque converter.

When i fired it for the first, it rattled a little bit. But now that i've ran in up to temperature and moved the car in gear, it seems to be louder. Any ideas what could be the problem?

What does it do when you stall test it? In other words, when you bust it off, put it in drive, hold the brake and ease into the gas? Or, how does it change IF it changes when you drop it into reverse or drive from park?

Check the inspection plate at the front of the transmission for loose or missing bolts. I had a rattle that drove me nuts till i found it!!

doesn't change from what I can tell, the exhaust is loud which doesn't help much.

there is no inspection plate on there, it's missing

Did Dodge ever have problems with cracked flexplates? I remember Buick having that problem. Cracks would run out from the flywheel bolts and make a heck of a racket! But we are not there to hear you noise. Think "simple" first...

Also check the length of your crank shaft pulley bolts. I've seen too long ones hitting the timing cover cause they go all the way thru the dampener, out the back and hit the cover.
