Ray Manzerik won't be down for breakfast

NO! Not Manzarek!

I can't tell you how much this kills me. The Doors - with Manzarek's brilliant keyboards - were my idol band.

Rest peacefully Ray...

Can we stop with the won't be down for breakfast. It wasn't appropriate when Dick Trickle died so it's not appropriate now either.

So what you are saying is....

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again.

Rip Ray and thanks for some great memories....

I'm not advocating the continuance of those but at least you know now if you didn't already know what you're going to get. You can elect to either read them or not. You can also elect to not click on comments from Dick Head in general. You have the choice. I grapple with that myself, but sometimes I just can't help it and I'm usually disappointed. I'm quite certain people choose to not click on my comments if I'm the most recent guy that comments or posts a new thread.

It's your choice. He will not stop. I probably won't either. You can just say no.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion on this, and I respect that. Personally I don't have a problem with Dickie's obit posts. I don't think that they are meant to be mean spirited. Everyone has their own way of dealing with death and grief and Dick's posts give the members of the board a chance to comment on those that have gone on before us. Maybe it's a little irreverent at times but like Tallhair says, you don't have to read 'em. JMHO
RIP Ray Manzarek.

I heard about Ray's passing today on the Jim Ladd show (deep tracks Sirius radio). Very sad indeed. The Doors remain one of my favorite bands and Ray was quite the musical genius. RIP Ray!

I just found it odd how it was not cool to post about Dick Trickles passing and not everyone else who has passed. You guys are absolutely right. I do not have to read the threads. Just giving my opinion. RIP Ray.

RIP Ray. Sure his hooked back up with Jim already. Gutted to hear this news. The doors a legendary band. Guess I'll have to stick on a few of their albums today.

I understand that "won't be down for breakfast" is offensive to some here, but are any of these less offensive?

.....is doing the dirt nap.
.....has assumed room temperature
.....is stiff as a board
.....has crapped out
.....will be counting worms
.....is headed for the last roundup
.....will be pushing up daisies
.....has bought the farm
.....will be wearing a pine overcoat
....will be joining the great majority
....has handed in his dinner pail

I for one find Dick Heads posts very informative. Well not always, but most of the time. I had never heard of the recently deceased Mr. Manzerik. I have heard of The Doors before. But the only member I have ever heard mentioned is the (other) dead one. I dont think letting others know about anothers passing is disrespectful. But knowing about it & not sharing their memories is.

How did this thread turn around to be about me? All I wanted to do is provide a public service by making everyone here aware that another ancient rock and roller has croaked. I do appreciate the flattery, but you guys really don't have to make it about me.

everything is always about you, Dickie...

MarPar ok I didn't see it I guess ....Another one bites the dust

I was sorry to see that Ray died. Too young. He always came off as quite an intelligent and insightful guy when I saw him on TV, and I really liked his keyboards and music. R.I.P. Ray

And you did a mighty fine job of doing it too, thanks.

I've been so busy lately I just found out about his passing away. Palladia is showing a doors concert from '68 right now and that is how I found out. Rather boring really. Jim just standing there. Nobody moving around. Not like the stones or the who. Songs are still good though.
