Although I kept the old valve springs and retainers in their removed orientation and location I decided to order new springs and retainers. They are so cheap my time is more valuable than the time spent cleaning the old parts. I have looked the springs over pretty closely and it doesn't appear they have agiven orientation. Am I wrong about this? The retainer seems to fit about the same on both ends.
A photo for everyone's enjoyment.

If they are straight Springs it don't matter.....

Yeah, OE for the 440 engine from MA Mopar in 1966. None of that newfangled high horsepower roller rocker, big lift nonsense for me. I like it like it used to be. .80 Horsepower per cubic inch.

Yeah...beehive springs need to have the narrow end UP but the standard shaped springs go in either way.

nice conveyor belt
Reminds me of the system we had at a steel mill that I worked at for awhile in the mid 70's to off load crushed coal for the coke ovens......but they were all exposed except for a tin roof over them.
