It hurts me to sell this but after multiple back fusions I am no longer able to finish the work on this car. It's a shame but it's time to turn it over to someone who appreciates the car and can complete it.
I have owned it since 2010. The previous owner was a Mopar club member who purchased it in 1989. It has been garaged in the Chicago area for over 30 years. This is an original "Scat Pack" model that was produced by Dodge in 1968 along with the Charger and Dart. Original color was bronze with black top and interior. There were only about 10,900 Coronet RTs built and not a lot remain. It is a true code-correct RT Hardtop with the fender tag and clean title - not a clone. It has a 727 Automatic Trans and an 8 3/4 rear end. The original motor had been replaced with an 1969 HP440 and the driver's door was replaced with a 69 door before I bought it along with a correct left 68 fender. The car was painted red before I purchased it. It's a solid car that does not need a whole lot of work to finish it up. The car runs and can be driven.
I am selling the car for $24,500.00 firm including a custom made Six Pack fiberglass bolt-on hood and many new, used and original parts removed from the car that are too long to list here. Serious buyers only. In addition to what I paid for the car itself, I have receipts for close to $15,000.00 worth of parts alone. Many of these parts were purchased from Classic Industries, Mopar Performance and Year One to keep them code correct. My brother and I have spent hundreds of hours working on it just to get it this far. For an original RT in this condition it is priced to sell. (To save us both time, please do not contact me with any low ball offers. I most likely will not respond).
As far as the body it's in decent shape. According to the previous owner, the lower quarters and trunk had some rust which was ground out and filled around the time he bought it. The floor pans are solid and the frame rails are OK. There is a finger size hole on the outside passenger torsion bar frame near the rocker. There are some small dents and scratches as well as a little rust present here and there that you may want to address. Keep in mind that this car is over 55 years old and it is not perfect. Depending on what you want to do with the car it could use some cosmetic restoration. I bought the car to be a driver and enjoy it. Still, I wanted to keep it as close to original as I could and moved forward accordingly.
Highlights of the work performed include the installation of a new interior with a new console and console plates, seat buns and covers, seatbelts, headliner, carpeting, armrests, window cranks and more. We put new one piece Cragar S/S 15 inch chrome wheels with BF Goodrich T/A tires (245/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear) on it. The original 11 inch brake system was refreshed with many new components including master cylinder and lines. The power steering pump and lines are new. We installed a new fuel system including a new tank and fuel lines. The dual point ignition was upgraded to an electronic one. It has a new vinyl top, new exterior emblems, fender turn signals, side marker lights, tail lights, wheel well moldings, rocker panel moldings and door handles. The grill was refurbished with new headlamps, sockets and hardware. The front suspension was refreshed and we installed new front shocks as well as air shocks in the rear for the proper stance. Aside form cleaning and polishing, we did not do any bodywork to the car.
Work that still needs to be completed includes going through and refurbishing the dash and dash pads, addressing an electrical issue with the turn signals, overhauling the heater box as well as installing a radio and new wiper pivots. (Two heater boxes, overhaul kit, wiper pivots and front speaker come with the car - new rear speakers have already been installed). The transmission and carb need some mechanical work/adjustment, the engine re-tuned and kick down linkage addressed. The rear end fluid with correct additive needs to be changed. The engine compartment could use a some cosmetic work. (New Mopar Performance valve covers and other dress parts are are included).
Interested buyers can PM me with any questions. I will respond back as soon as I can.
