working on a 63 plymouth belvedere needing to find out what later 8&3/4 rear end will work with this body style ive been told a 66-69 will do the job but just wanting to make sure before i go out and get started on this project.

A '70 RR rear end fit right into my '64 Belvedere.

All will work but the 65-67 b-body is about 1/2 inch shorter on each side than the 68-70 which will give you a little more tire clearance.

I am also working on a 63 (Fury vert) and I can't seem to get the same answer to a question. I am going to switch to rear disc brakes. I understand that you can't put brakes on the tapered axle pre 65 8 3/4. My question is the bare housing different than the post 64 housings and if so how do they differ. I like the narrow rear of the 63 and would like to keep my housing, already blasted and painted. Can I put newer axles in that housing or would I have to change the housing ends to switch to disc? They look the same as the newer housings. Have been told they are the same and also told they are different, and I don't know what to believe and as a result my course of action to switch.

Just read a article in the new Mopar Muscle about that.I think you can use the housing, just need to get the right length axles.

Contact [email protected] he has what you need.Kit to update the 62-64 rear end axles to the updated 65 plus axles and disc brake kit.

The pre 65 housings are the same as the later ones. You can use the 65 and up axles in the 64 and back you just have to make sure the axles are the same length as the axles that came out of the housing.

The 66-67 rear runs about 1/2" shorter over all....not 1/2" per side.....

yep, 66-69 B Body
The 66-67 B's are a bit shorter than the 68-70 but not usually enough to worry about and 68-70 B bodies all run within tolerance which can run up to 1/2" difference....

the 65 housing is the narrowest of the b-bdy.housings!you can use a wider wheel that way.

How much shorter is the 65 from the 66-67's?
