I believe the oem type rubber front bushing have to be pressed in because they have a metal shell on the outside of the rubber bushing. The Polyethylene bushing doesn't have the outside shell and doesn't need a press to be installed. I took the springs out of my 66 belvedere without removing the brake lines or the wheels. Put the car on jack stands then put the rearend on jack stands. It takes two sets of jack stands. It took about one hour to remove both springs. It's really not that bad.
Also don't forget to remove the oem front metal shell that has to be remove with chisel.
