Hey everyone,

Looks like my rear main seal is leaking on my 440. Any tips on changing it out or any instructions out there online that someone can point me to? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

After taking mine apart 3 times and still not able to get it to seal, I bought the billet alum. kit from Indy. This solved the problem for good. Money well spent in my opinion.

tell me about this billet kit. What's involved?

According to the flyer that's in my throne room/reading room, here's what's involved:

1.) Pick up phone and dial (317) 862-3724

2.) tell em you want part # 440-G1-223 master kit

3.) Pay the man Enos

i highly recommend the mancini o ring billet rear main seal kit, mine was gushiing oil, i put this in and not even a drop now.

but if your using main studs all the billet ones will have to be slightly notched as they hit the stud and dont seal properly

+1 to the crowd for mancini's billet seal.

My car was in pieces when I bought it so I'm not sure if mine would have leaked or not, but as long as it's out of the car my 440's getting a mancini seal before it even goes in. No leaks is worth the $70.

Well I got lucky. Pulled the oil pan and transmission inspection cover tonight. Rear main is not leaking. It was bone dry back there. The oil pan however was leaking real bad. We had to straighten it out. Someone over torqued it back in the day and screwed up the mounting point. We got it all straightened out, put a fresh cork oil pan gasket on it and so far so good. Fingers crossed!!
