Has anyone put seatbelts in the rear of their 62-65 dodge or plymouth?? I'm stumped as to a good location to bolt them to and yes I have the kit to mount them safely, the rugrats will be sitting there. If anyone has some pics that would be helpful as well, thanks.

Rear Seat Belts

Here is how Plymouth was installing the rear belts in the 65 Belvedere II convertibles. You can see the hardware and the manufacturer name. Hope the pictures help.

Thanks alot for the pics.

We fitted some lap belts (from Juliano's) in the front & rear of our 63 Polara.

Front already had belts so we used the same holes for the new belts but we had to decide where to mount the rears....

Thanks again for posting some pics. I installed the belts today, I really hated to drill 4 holes in a good pristine floor, but the little hooligans gotta be safe in their car seats, plus the better half would have fround upon not having them in.

I know this an OLD thread LOL but thats what I have to do to our 65 Dodge Corornet Hemi car. Just baught a used set for the rear. We are second owners of the car and have had it for 27 years. I don't want to cut holes in the floor either. It does have the fronts in from the factory already. I do have an out because my wife has her own old car. So I can put the car seat up front with me for "short in town" trips and let her take the other rug rat. Hmmm I'm gonna have to give this some thought. I guess they can be welded and ground smooth after the kids grow up and then I can put the rear seat delete in. I also appreciate the pics.

Well if you live in California your not gonna like what I have to tell ya. I found this out from a buddy of mine who is "the man in blue".

Children who are under 8yrs and weigh less than 80lbs must ride in the back seat with either a booster or child seat, and that depends on the size of the child.

So if the little ones are gonna ride with ya, they gotta seat in the back. And as you said, the holes can be welded shut when they are grown enough to sit in the front. We have to keep the little ones safe, and besides, I dont think a safety item would de-value our cars (seatbelts).

When I picked up my 63 it didnt have seat belts, but there were threaded holes already in the transmission hump, but no holes anywhere else. My girlfriend refused to ride in the car until I installed seatbelts, so I robbed the belts from my 66 chrysler and drilled a few holes, put some thick steel plates under the floor and bolted them in. I have yet to install the rear belts so thanks for the pictures! I agree about keeping the little ones safe...after all they might be hot rodders of the future!

Also, my seatbelt fabric is pretty dirty/grimey from 40+ years of use...does anyone know of any companies that will redo the fabric of my belts and rebuild the spring loaded self retracting unit?
