We have pictured here the vintage Gabriel (replacement?) rear shock that came off the car.
And a new Gabriel shock (82132) that is listed for a '"classic" car.
It seems to me that the upper mount (pictured) should be able to move as the angle changes between it and the lower axle mounting stud as it is doing the same.
Were the teeth present in the OE shocks to dig in and lock the sleeve to the frame mounting ears?
Or were the absent?
If the metal sleeve was not present like the older shock or they were not sticking out the eye could simply rotate on the bolt.
(Maybe I should say the rubber bushing would simply "twist" on the bolt. Like the bottom would on the stud?.)
What would you prefer?

Appears to be for a different body type.

This is all the relevant info I can find from the MP Performance Manual.
