Hey guys. Quick question. The shop working on my car says the rear springs have to be made rather than ordered as an off the shelf item. Am I missing something but places like CI have them for sale.

I'm not having anything made special just replacing the stock ones that were sagging.

Thanks in advance,
Roger!

Be sure to keep the bottom leaves with the parts numbers....then swap them on the new set...

If you want the best then call Eaton spring...they are American made and for your years will probably be on the shelf.

Sounds like an adventure over at the service shop...

Thanks Justin! Overall I'm pleased with the work they've done. They're just waiting for the order to come in. It's the wait that's killing me, LOL!

Your shop is mostly right. The spring market isn't what it used to be. Most people today want their springs tailor-made so they are lower or higher than stock, so you usually have to contact a spring maker and tell them if you want stock, +1, +3, -2, whatever and they make the springs for you.

There's also issues with folks hanging springs on modified cars, so they'll ask you for actual measurements of the equipment the springs are replacing. This is a BIG problem with 71-74 B bodies since so much stuff has been swapped on and off of them over 40+ years. You can end up ordering a set of stock 68 Charger springs and find out someone years ago put Super Stock springs on and the new springs won't mount the hangers and now you want your money back and yada, yada, yada.

Thanks Bru! As I'm just ordering a stock replacement so I would have thought it would be as simple on the shelf Item. Perhaps there's been a big run on the market for these springs and supply is low, LOL!

I sent the Eaton website over to the shop (thanks Justin!) but I'm sure the order will show up in the next day or so, seeing they've had my car for a month, all depends on when they placed the order.

I did mention to the shop to put a lean on their vendor to get the order delivered as I want to go to a show next weekend. Stay tuned.

Springs & hardware are from Eaton. Not sure if this is who they were ordering from to begin with but I have a feeling they weren't. Thanks Justin for suggesting them!
