Rear tires and wheels.

Well the consesnus is 275/60/15 is SAFE. I just put a set on my 68 and they are PERFECT. 255/50's are close...may want to check it out to be sure.

I saw a 69 rt with 305's with a 5.75 or 6" bs. They were on 18" wheels. Looked great. Guy said no rubbing at all

On my '69 Bee I'm running 295/60 15 on a 15x10 wheel with 5.5 offset. no rubbing.

Also run 275/60 15 on a 15x8 with 4.5 offset

2.75" per the Summit website. I did not pay attention when ordering. Just got the 15x8 Rallyes. You should see the parking lot stripes!

Im surprised you have clearance with only that much backspacing? Who'd a thought...

Those must leave a mean stripe! I like the tread much better than the BFG's too. Looking forward to re-skinning my Bee.

thanks

Yep.... Dennis helped me on mine. On the 68 i have 1/2 clear. I saw his and knew right away that was the look I was going after.

im about to order a set of 15x10 w/ 4" backspace for my '68 Coronet. looking to run either 295/50 or 295/60-15 .... I measured 12" from leaf spring to wheel arch lip, there is a lot of room under there ! mocked up a jeep wrangler wheel with 4" backspace and had almost 2" gap between the rim and spring

I would think with only 4" of backspacing on a 10" rim, your tires will be into the quarters.

That was my experience. After chucking those wheels, I used a set of Marsh Racing wheels 15 x 10 with 4-7/8" back spacing and was able to fit a set of P295/50R15 into the wheel well with no problems.

I'm running 29x12.5x15 mt sportsmans on 15x10 cragar ss. I'm running air shocks but have minimal rubbing with all the air out of the shocks. I run about 20lbs in the shocks. It's on a 69 rr

I would think so also. my 295s on the 15x10x5.5 wheels are roughly a 1/4 away from both the leaf spring and quarter. With a 4" backspacing I would expect that wheel/tire to be way into the quarter.

I would think with only 4" of backspacing on a 10" rim, your tires will be into the quarters.

Thanks for that info, that's good to know. I am running S/S springs, was thinking the top of the tire would be just below the lip of the arch, or barely inside the well. Right now I have 235/60-15 and they look like spare tires on the back ! Also have ridiculous amount of room

yep, I agree if you look at my pic, the 245's in the front a barely good enough IMO. HOWEVER ....with the bad boyz in the back , they look great and the stagger looks great and ole school.

hey 440Beep, just about to pull the trigger on some 15x10x15 Magnum 500's for the rear of my '69 Bee. i'm running 275-60/15's and want to continue to do so. before i press the "buy" button, i just want to be sure on back spacing as they offer 5" and 5.5" back spacing. are you running standard or air shocks in the rear? i have new springs and KYB's that i would like to keep, too. thanks in advance.

Hangtown, if you're going with the 275 size tire, why not just run an 8" wheel then. 275s will fit an 8" wheel perfect and I wonder how "strectched" the 275 will be on a 10" wheel. Per the below MT website, 275 isn't even approved/recommeded for a 10" wheel. BUT if you want to run a 10" wheel on the Bee, it's a 5.5" back spacing. And I'm running the standard leaf springs with normal Bilstein shocks.

That interests me for my RR. I'm looking at 19X10's. I know I can get a 295 under mine and think a 305 would fit... would just rather know for sure before spending any money
