Hi, I'm trying to install the rear window moldings on my 69 Coronet and it's a pita! I used new clips from megaparts and my old moldings which are in usable shape. I added no extra PU, only the window "gasket". I can't get those lower moldings to hook into the 2-3 clips on the left and right corners, no matter how hard I try.
Is there a special trick that I could apply before I start to treat those f+ckers with a hammer? ;-)
Thanks

Sometimes the clips can be too tight. Take a small/flat scraper, a lightly give them a bit more room between the sheet-metal. That, and make SURE they are the correct clips. I did auto-glass and bump-shop work when I was younger....and they can be a bitch. PATIENCE!

I think the clips are correct, they look like the old ones (didn't use them because of rust). But I'm under the impression, that they may be too far away from the metal. There is a gap of 1/8", which seems like a lot of room to me. Aren't the clips supposed to push the molding against the metal?

Yes. I'd say defective, or wrong clips.
