I recently posted a WTB ad for the rear window interior trim for a 68 Coronet. Well, a question just popped into my head: Would that molding be the same for a 2-door and a 4-door? It would seem to me they would be interchangeable. Any thoughts?

I think you are hopeful for an easy solution. I know that the 2 door window is larger in size and a different shape. None of the trim will interchange.

OK then

But it's the same between a hardtop and a coupe, right? IIRC....but have never had one out in my hands to compare.

Uh... no. I'm merely curious as to the compatibility of the moldings from one to the other. The answer makes no difference in my level of hope in acquiring the pieces. This is window trim - not unicorn poop. I'll find it easily enough.

Trim Parts makes the rear interior trim that is the molded style. It is specific as to which style you should have and the number of pieces to complete a kit. A second style is not currently available to my knowledge. The bottom piece is profile that attaches to the package tray and the pieces that goes up an around the window is a windlace type of material. As mentioned earlier, if your car has the injection molded style of material and your trying to use the four door variety, then I would imagine that the length of material needed would be too short if trying to use in a hardtop or two door sedan/coupe application.
