I have a '69 440 HP block, balanced blue printed,.040 over, 6 pak rods, flat top pistons, 509 cam, Edelbrock performer intake, guessing 1-3/4" headers from "Dougs", Chrysler elec ignition, 750 holly dbl clunker.....steel crank. ported/polished steel 906 heads .....anyway, what is the best guestimate where I should set my "red line"?
3500 rpm stall balanced converter on a TQ727 if that has any relevance

My guess, without more info, would be 5500-5800.

6000 rpms, those are heavier rods, but still if it is blue printed and set up well... 6500 might even work, but to be safe set at 6000, unless you are running real deep gears you will run out of track before hitting much above that

MikeyT is right,
With those 6pk Rods I'd stay low on the RPM side, Just my opinion ( Back in the day they were the Beez Kneez )
Should post what gears your running,

thought I'd miss something...3:50's. its ford 9" rear w/4 link...pro street set up.

Mine stops pulling at 4850 per the chassis dyno.

You red line is primarily set with that cam, and that's in the order of 6000 RPM if components are matched and engine is tuned. In other words your decision has been made, and if you puke a rod out the side of the block, then you need a stronger bottom end. Otherwise put in a smaller cam.

It's not uncommon for a 440 with strong light weight pistons to go to 7000 RPM on a shift point. I ran mine at 6300 through the lights but I'm already off my cam so need to gear up and keep it in the power band. Things fall off for me at around 5500 so 3.55's are probably the ticket.
