I bought a '95 Dakota and both of the wipers arms were stripped on the stub shaft. So I bought a replacement from Auto Joke(oops, should be Zone), and replaced the drivers side. They only had one. So I bought a second at Advance. (I really am getting to the point) The passenger side had a spring that was too tight, and it pulled the arm up at the pivot, so it didn't sit flat on the stub. Stripped instantly. So I replaced it. Same thing. Sooo, my solution?
A Dremel tool and an aluminum pop(soda) can. I cut a strip off the can, tucked it in the wiper arm, and tapped it back on. On high, it wasn't tight enough. Actually caught the new, working wiper arm on the driver's side, and broke the end of it off.:angryfire:
Sooo, cut a longer strip, wrapped it in there, and all is good. So now I am back to the original old, stripped wipers and they work wonderfully.
So, is that creative, or pure redneck? No aluminum is visible, and there is no blue silicon or duct tape involved at all!
