Alright, stupid question to agonize over but the OCD is kicking in :) Throwing in a set of REM asphalt/rubber sound deadeners and I have followed the diagram provided but I have one question. If you follow the diagram the "slightly sticky" side is up and the side with plastic peel that looks like it could be removed reasonably easily is on the floorboard side. I removed the plastic from the piece I discarded for the shifter hole and that side is indeed stickier. IS the plastic film supposed to be removed? I cannot find any information one way or another from the REM website or anywhere else. Pretty sure the carpet is going down tomorrow over the sound deadener the way it is :)

I've never used it, but I would assume it's designed to have the backing plastic pulled off and stuck to the floor panels. If it's like I imagine, make sure it's where you want it, because you'll likely never get it off in one piece again.

I used one of the big brand names (can't remember which one) super sticky side went down on the floor pans and other contact surfaces. The other side was an aluminum type material. That side didn't have any glue to it. That was the side the carpet went down on. Once that stuffs down I get the impression it ain't coming back up. To be sure/safe I'd call the company that makes it. More than likely the very sticky part will be down - and the other side may stick to the back of the carpet.

Plastic sheeting is normally there for packaging purposes - so that the sheets don't all stick together and make one big lump in the package. Also makes the installation easier - you can roll or press down easier on the plastic cover sheet without sticking yourself to the job.
