I said, " When you're reaching for a wrench and you get this instead." My son just sent me this one from inside his house. He just installed a swamp cooler and thinks there may be a gap somewhere. This boy looks pissed off and is striking in one of the pictures. Luckily my son Bryce is not that afraid of snakes. He has a huge python in a great big aquarium in his living room.

Yikes, no thanks!!!
I saw a good sized Northern Racer by my house the other day and just let it be. The past few days, I weed wacked and decreased places snakes can hide but I realize they have a right to be there too. I did buy some snake tongs and that twirly hook tool from Amazon just in case I need to relocate any. Ain't no way I'm grabbing with my hands!

My daughter was at my place last week, she stepped on a fox snake. Man did she let out a scream

Being up-north we really dont even think about snakes much. Theres plenty of Timber Rattlers, but you gotta go outta your way to find them most of the time. Certain areas of hiking you can come across them at times sprawled out in the spring sun and they can be big. But overall, I am not a huge fan of snakes, but if I see them i dont have a reaction.

Now when I was traveling for competitive archery and shooting in the south.....I told everyone as we had some tourneys in the swamps, etc.....dont let me walk in front, I havent been raised to look for these things :)

Lots of years ago my nephew would come over and help out. He was a Ford kid but liked Mopars too. Anyways I had a rubber snake that looked like a black rat snake and thought I'd get him with it and did. He came unglued! A few hours later he tried to get me back but failed but I got him again with it about 30 minutes later :D It came time to me to call it quits at the end of the day and he was ready to go home too and was the last one out the door right behind me. Next morning I walk in and there's that snake on the floor and thought silly kid until I picked it up and it was real!! Talk about letting go in a hurry but even though the snake was alive, it didn't have much life. After calling him and asking where he found a live one (haven't seen many snakes around in the 39 years I've been living here) he said there's no way he would pick up a live snake. I'm guessing it came into the shop to die? The pass through door had...and I said had....a gap at the bottom and that got fixed pretty quickly. Didn't try to bust his chops with rubber snakes anymore.

We talked about how a Bull Snake will imitate a rattler last year when he had that big Bull Snake sharing the shade with him under the truck. I spoke to him further about the one in the house. He said when they walked in they heard a noise like an air hose hissing. Bull Snakes are trying to imitate the rattler's rattles by making a similar noise. The markings already are meant to look like a rattler. It was the noise making that lead them to the snake or who knows when they would have finally found it.

According to Britannica, Bull Snakes can grow up to 8 feet long. They will hiss and shake their tail when threatened, which also gives them the appearance of rattlesnakes to the untrained observer.
