If that’s the case stop renaming military bases“We salute you. You saved the world” - Lloyd Austin (earlier today)
We owe them everything.
But I'm afraid it's going to keep on going.....If that’s the case stop renaming military bases
Not sure how'd I react in the same situation as those guys and gals went through.....man.....that was crazy nuts!Watching shows and reading articles about D-Day, and WWII in general, the danger, sacrifices and heroism that those young men and women went through is very humbling.
My Dad , 5Th Army Engineer Corps.79 years ago today.
He retired at age 90. What an example of the greatest generation! When I was just out of school I worked at an AMC/JEEP dealer. The Service Manager was a tall lanky old guy named Leroy. I knew he was a veteran but never knew he landed on D day until one of the Christmas parties when everyone got a little tipsy. He described the brutal horror of the first 3 waves of landing craft when the doors opened in grusome detail. There was utter and absolute silence as those who worked with him didn't know either. He was captured later at the Battle of the Bulge and spent 10 months as a POW before escaping. He weighed 82 lbs when reunited and had stomach issues the rest of his life. He was also a purple heart recipient.
This country owes him and the men like him a debt we can never repay.
I think of him every D day.
