Remote mirror lever hole in the door size ????

Anyone happen to know if the hole in the drivers door for the remote mirror happens to be the same as the hole forward edge of the door ?

I would like to change my car back to a manual mirror. And the only way I can think to do it is if the hole is same size and find a metallic red plug to fill the hole .
Otherwise its weld it up and have the inside of the door repainted. and Im not sure I want to go that far to do it

1966 remote hole is larger than 1967 and up.

It would look really bad with a plug in that hole. Only way to do it right is remove the hole and paint.

Deep down that is what I was expecting . BUT, For fear or having someone being able to match the paint.

Odds are I will not go that far to put the a manual mirror back on as delivered
