Removing center of steering wheel

How is the center removed. Trying to remove pad and wheel for shipping.

If it's like the 69 RR wheel then the center emblem pops out, revealing a nut.
 
I was thinking that. I even got a small screw driver in there but it doesn't want to give. I give it another try. Thanks!

Maybe shoot some armor all in there to loosen up the cap but don't be surprised if it cracks.
 
Screwdriver pops emblem out from the left side looking at it as I remember. Then you will see the retainer nut below.
 
Ok, I got this far but it still won't give. Is there a spline for the wheel and may just need some soaking??

Yes it's a spline, maybe even keyed. You need a steering wheel puller to jack it out.
 
Thanks for the help! I'll hit Oreillys tomorrow.
 
No problem, one other thing, try not to run the jack screws too deep, there's an insulator (epoxy?) in behind that might break. Then after you put it all back together your horn will go off when you turn the wheel. Ask me how I know...
