removing choke

hi guys,

i have 2 edelbrock 500 cfm manual choke on my 505 street stroker.


i want to remove the choke altogether as i dont need it, anyone able to help on how i would do this.
currently i have removed the butterflies and the rods.

is there anything else to remove?

also down in the carbs under the butterflies is these other butterfly plates that seem to be partially closed and only open when you turn the carb upside down (they dont seem to be connected to any shafys or levers (no idea what they do).

once you have removed the choke butterfly and rods the only other thing to worry about is the high idle cam dropping into place on accident.just take a look at it,some will never move and others can be removed.the "other" plate you see is in the secondaries.its the basis of how the afb carb works.its a weighted plate that restrics air flow slowly alowing the carb to work smoothly.dont mess with it.
 
The lower flap is the secondary air door. It regulates air to the secondary side. You need to leave that in.
 
One thing I will add is the screws on the choke shaft are usually staked and if you try to unscrew them they will most likely break off. You should file the threads down to get rid of the staking then they should come out easily.
 
i noticed the horizntal shaft for the choke plates go through the body of the carb, and if i remove them it would cause a air/vac leak ???
leave them in you reckon? or block of holes maybe somehow
 
Either leave the shaft in (the rear one) or remove it and epoxy a couple of short pieces of 3/16" or 1/4" rod into each hole. No vacuum loss if left open but unfiltered air would get into the motor.
 
Nope. Removing the choke shaft will not cause a vacuum leak because it is above the throttle plates. You will just have two holes in the air horn. No need to block the hols either because the air horn containing the holes is inside the filter area.
