Hi All,

I am removing the mechanical fuel pump off my 440ci and was going to be installing a Holley Block-Off plate.

The plate came with two gaskets.

Do I need to use some permatex gasket adhesive or just the two gaskets provided in the kit?

Also, which gasket goes against the engine block first? The black one or light-colored one?

You use one or the other not both. The solid one would be the one i used.

I agree....Why create another gap to leak with the addition of a second gasket. Only RTV I would use would be a light film to hold the gasket in place, while weaseling in the two bolts.

I would simply use a film of high temp RTV. A fuel pump block off plate is considered pretty permanent. I wouldn't want a gasket there to soak up oil and possibly leak down the road. I would use RTV only and on the bolt threads and a dab under the bolt heads as well. It will never leak if you do that. That's how I WILL do mine.

thanks all.

will toss the gaskets and go with the high-temp rtv as RustyRatRod suggested. i don't plan on re-installing the mech fuel pump.

thanks again,

Also put a small dab on the plug when taking out the fuel pump rod...just a small dab.

damn, stripped the plug when trying to remove it :eusa_wall: i probably shoulda heated it up some before trying to remove

what do i do?

drill it out? but what about metal droppings falling into engine?

tack weld a bolt on then heat up and try to remove?

fun fun fun

I'd try that......Weld on a bolt like mentioned, easy enough. 440 I just pulled apart, every single plug/sensor/heater hose nipple needed quite a bit of heat from a map gas torch to get out.

Good luck
