Anyone have pointers on how to get it out? If it screwed in? Do I have to get it from the back side of the dash? Do tell, last one I took apart was a 65 satellite 20 years ago

On the side of the dash that faces you, a ring unscrews and comes off which lets the switch come out from the back.

There is a three prong tool to get the ring off but you can get creative with a couple screwdrivers.

Good luck!

There should be a lock ring on the dash that holds the switch in place. Hold the switch on the back and un-screw the lock ring.

Thanks, I have a new igntion switch and tumbler coming tomorrow. I need to change the plugs on the drivers side and run new wires, a new fuel filter, and I am going to try to start her in the next couple days.

Don't you just love barn finds

I've always used a pair of needle nose pliers spread open to unscrew the ring. Works almost as well as the correct tool.

I got it with a small flat blade screw driver and a tap for the palm of my hand.

On another not, once the ignition was in and I went through some minor parts and labor.....she fired up. I was amazed. It had been sitting since 1989.
