I'm working to restore the interior on my 72 SSP. The previous owner used a black dye to change the interior color from the medium blue over to black. I would like to change it back the the original blue.

Has anyone had success removing a black vinyl dye from an interior? The dye that was used is a product called VHT Vinyl Dye.

I tested, in a small area under the edge of a seat, using some acetone and the dye seemed to wipe right off. However, I'm afraid the acetone will harm the vinyl. Does anyone know for sure the acetone will harm vinyl.

Also, Where can I purchase the original blue paint for the interior to paint the lower door panels, dash, etc...?

Generally in the past I've used cheap lacquer thinner to remove old dye. Lots of work and mess, but it didn't seem to harm the panels.
