I'm in the process of detailing my 340 and am trying toremove the viscous fan to clean some rust and repaint. I removed the bolts holding the fan to thewater pump but the fan won't budge. What am I missing, is there anything special I need to do to remove the fan clutch?

Don't think there's anything else, at least not on my 440. Maybe it just needs a little persuasion?

Spray some PBlaster on it and then give it some gentle love taps with a rubber hammer. The snout is a pretty tight fit in the hole in the clutch flange and sometimes they'll marry with a little rust.

Thanks guys! The mallet did the trick. I tried tapping it off earlier but figured I'd ask before I took the chance of breaking something. It's the original chrysler unit and was in no hurry to come off.
