Got the dash harness from Year one. M & H quality is spot on. It started. I only ran it for a minute but when I reved it a little the amp guage reved up too. I don't know if it will settle down or not. Checked the battery not running 12.93 volts.

52 views, no replies but no worries either. Took it out today for a couple local cruises. Probably put over a hundred miles on it. The guage showed charge for a bit then went down to acting normal.

Check the connections on your ammeter - it is possible to over-tighten, and twist the internal part of the stud terminals...which could result in a short or intermittent loss of connection. I have seen a few like this, and the first nut on the back of the gauge is very important. If the cable lug securing nut is tightened too much, and the backing nut turns, there will be problems.

So you rev the engine. The rpm goes up, the alternator speed goes up and your amp meter goes up. That's normal.
