Replacement of gnarly oil pan - Ed's next mini-project

When I took my '68 GTX to the body shop this morning, I was rudely reminded of the existing oil pan issue I have with my 440 - namely, that it's bashed in pretty badly, to the point that when facing downhill, sometimes the oil pressure fluctuates as the oil gets away from the pickup.
That's gotta change, and pronto!
It's a stock pan, middle caved in pretty badly...

I got on the horn with the folks at 440Source and asked some questions, then upon their recommendation ordered up their reproduction 6 quart "hemi" pan ($89.95!):

I also ordered the accompanying pickup:

I should have all this by the time the car gets out of the body shop end of this week.
Not looking forward to getting under there (some of y'all know why that is), but it simply has to be done.

By the way, for those of you who may be wondering "why does he feel the need to post all this crap? Pretty common knowledge..." well, I oftentimes post these threads just to keep a sort of journal on what I've done on the car. It helps keep me organized and it also allows for helpful folks to point out what I'm doing wrong as I go along, too.
I know it won't be of much use to some - but it helps me, so...

I’ll be replacing gaskets and cleaning 86K miles of sludge and nylon timing sprocket teeth out of my pan in the next month. I share your pain.
 
Nice looking pan Ed! The biggest pain about replacing the pan is not getting to the bolts but popping the steering link out of the way.

I bashed my pan before I even had a mile on my rebuilt car. Took it around the neighborhood before I had completely adjusted the torsion bars, hit a dip too hard and crunched it in. Ordered another one plus pick-up and replaced it...and added a 1/4" thick home built skid plate.

Yeah, I think I have a joint separator around here somewheres....
Reckon I got to paint that pan when it gets here, too, eh?
 
Went with a 7 quart Miloden - or should I say the builder did. I think it was just extra insurance on the stroker. I wish you all the luck in changing that sucker Ed!

I just ordered the exact same pan for RR, replacing a damaged 7 qt Milodon. Can’t beat the price, I was not going to spend $250 to have the same clearance issues.

Like you mentioned, the pan removal was easy compared to the steering link, finally got it off with a BFH. New pan should be here tomorrow, good luck with the project!

I'm not a fan of 440 Source Oil Pickups, or maybe just all the poop comes to us here in Canada ?

On more than one occasion we've experienced the Chinese guys dunno WTF an NPT thread size is ? and the Pickup was grossly loose threading in ?
We still order their Pans... but just default to the Melling "stock" Oil Pickup instead.
 
What’s wrong with the standard 5 quart. Never hit anything with it.
 
Ed, wear glasses AND keep your mouth shut!! Stuff tastes horrible lol.

Eh, I'll be the last one to claim I actually know anything about this stuff, but the rep on the phone pointed out it was $10 difference to get the added capacity at no ground clearance loss. Made sense to me, so...

Think read to much into rudely. Ed probably saw the underside of his car. His eyes focused on the pan.
When are we gona see some pics, Ed?
