what mods to i need to do,to make it fit.

Couple of guys on here just carefully enlarged the opening with a die grinder and cutoff wheel. Not sure I'd do that, but they both said they didn't damage the paint. Me, I just run a 2 row (1" per row) alum 22" rad and have no problems. Why do you want to go bigger? Might just be some other issue you need to overcome if overheating is the problem. Enlarging the opening requires new upper and lower rad support, which is not a bolt in affair.

I cut out the passenger side core support a bit wider to look stock...then just drilled two new holes for mounting...the driver side is the same mounting bolts

I didn't know that the driver-side was the same as the 26" to 22" rad supports, thanks A383Wing, I learn something new & useful here everyday...

My 66-300 was cut for a 26", but I have seen them uncut as well. When Cr8crshr up graded to a 26" in his 300 at the time all he had to do was drill 2 holes for the pass side and had no problems with any increased heating due to the smaller opening with a 26". Enough airflow get through with a stock opening. Good Luck

There shouldn't be a problem with enough air getting through. The question is what is the benefit. You should have enough air to support a smaller radiator, but without cutting out the opening to allow more air to go through you're not really getting much benefit from the portions of the radiator that are blocked by the limited opening. You also need to get a new fan shroud, so is the cost worth the benefit?

I have a 26" rad in my car in place of the stock 22" hole. No mods to the stock opening.

Cut nothing just redrill the 2 pass side holes and bolt it in,the extra capacity outweighs the few inches covered buy the core support.
