Reproduction shipping costs

Anybody noticed the ridiculous shipping costs on repro parts?

I’m spending about $1000 on various parts, mainly small items like door handles, door panels, armrests etc but the shipping costs are killing it all.

Yearone total was $220 and shipping was $130 within the US for an armrest, lock knobs and misc small items.

Even the canadian based PG classics are crazy, a set of door panels was $170 to ship within Canada, yet all prices in USD?

I with you on the shipping prices. What takes the cake is when you order a part and open the box from the company you bought it from and then another box is in side from the people who make it. I am on the east cost and have to order from the west coast part's. The shipping sometimes is more than the part. I feel your pain for sure. Wish you the best of luck with the project.

Having a list, and going to big shows with vendors, can save a lot. A few years ago, i went to a show in columbus one weekend, and one in indy the following. I was shelling out a lot of cash quick, buying everything i needed. It was kinda like Christmas. Lol

Postage sucks these days, just part of the game. Try shipping aircraft parts to NZ and come back and cry to me..

I'd say in my car restoration I have about $15,000 in postage alone. Doing it again... don't buy single/minimal items at a time. Make a BIG BIG forkin list and order from one seller. You can ship a big damn box with $150 bucks vs $25/$30 for every single part.

yes i did, i just went on ci website. 2 little items and $25 dollar shipping fee. they can use priority mailing for small parts for around $9 bucks lower 48. i buy hardware and other things through the web and most use the usps priority mail.

It's surprising how much stuff can be bought through Amazon with decent prices & free shipping.... It's worth trying.... I'm not a fan of Bezo's but if I can buy with free shipping so be it...

Well they got us by the balls with this covid ****. Normally I'd have stuff shipped to My US Address and go and pick it up OR have it shipped to the hotel at a show I'm going to as well as pre-order a bunch of **** to pick up at the show. But this year I just have a bunch of money burning holes in my pockets.

Thank Amazon for shipping cost increases from Fedex, UPS and USPS. The price deal the shippers give to Amazon need to be offset by the rest of us. Just my opinion.

US postal charges are a joke. Ive ordered quite a few parts from there recently...extortionate postal charges even if you can persuade them to send at cost price.....but most add an unreasonable amount on and use packing material and labour to pack as an excuse to bump up the fees. I can send the same size stuff back to the US for less than half the price....and often do send ALFA parts there!

Not overseas....they quoted me $26.22 to ship a $21 fuel gauge. Found one in Germany...5 Euros for post to my door! (That's about $5.85).

So much this. A lot of stuff from the resto companies can be bought on there, and free shipping with Prime.
