I have a restoration in process.
should I complete the outside before the inside or visa versa or does it not matter? when is the best time to spray the jambs?

The engine is out as well. Should the engine stay out while the exterior is completed or not? I dont want to scratch anything once the car is painted so I'm inclined to paint last but what is the best way? The interior panels and headliner are parts of the dash are not installed yet but are sitting waiting to go in. I'm not sure where my efforts should be right now... exterior or interior or engine and drivetrain

If it was me, id paint the engine bay the undercarriage and interior now, Then if you want to put the drive train in go for it and finish it. We all have our ways to do these things and you can get the engine in without hurting the car, just take it slow and easy. I went with door jambs and inside of trunk before i painted mine, the engine was already in place and i wasn't about to take it out to do it again. Mine is a DD in summer if it isint raining, a rotisserie build i would have done it differently, all paint then put everything in, You said there isint anything in it yet, now is the time to paint it all..

Well I should have explained better. I had started with gutting the car and sanding and painting the engine bay and sub-frame, replaced body bushings. So the bay is done. The floors needed work on the interior and a new dash and wiring harness was called for.
SO I patched the floors/weled in new ones and then painted them and put sound deading on it and then semi-installed the carpet... It can come out in a heartbeat if need be. The original paint is fine on the interior, the car is a 79, so I didnt paint the whole thing. Just the floor. I then put in the new dash pad and wiring harness and such but still have to wire up couple things, interior lights being one of them. I was going to skip this step but I think it should be done so I'll takle them.
So.. The interior just needs the seats panels and a bit of wiring and its done.. But like I said the carpet would take 2 minutes to take out but no real need to paint in there .. sorry for the lack on info ..LOL

I like to leave the interior completely out until the outside is complete. Main reason, overspray and dust getting all over the interior possibly. Jambs, under the hood, trunk painted first, then on to the body. If you can drop the engine in after the bay is painted but before body paint, great! One less time you'll have to dink around with the hood and you won't have to tip-toe around those freshly painted fenders
