Reverse Light adjustment

I have a 1968 Satellite 273/automatic. I am having trouble with my reverse light coming on when the colum shifter is barely moved then light goes out when the shifter is placed in reverse. I have it on the rack changing out thes seals and bearings on the rear axle and need to know if I can correct the problem while it is in the air. Thanks for the help....

I have a 1968 Satellite 273/automatic. I am having trouble with my reverse light coming on when the colum shifter is barely moved then light goes out when the shifter is placed in reverse.

The switch is located on the steering column...inside the car....near the firewall. Kind of a sliding design. You should be able to access it under the dash. loosen the screws and move the switch to where it works correctly.... tighten the screws.......
